Ok time was limited and I wasn't even thinking about hot dogs for lunch. But then there I was driving right past Pink's and there was only maybe 7 people in line and I hadn't been there in at least 5 years, so what the hell. Went around the block and quickly found a spot in their lot. Good omen?
Of course, even with only 7 people in line it took a full 15 minutes until I could place my order. A Huell (Howser) dog and a polish chicago dog. Ate it right there, or tried to. The Huell had 2 dogs in one bun along with chili, mustard, onions and cheese. The dogs had a slight snap but the taste was bland, in no way close to Carney's dogs. The little bit of mustard and onion was plopped in the center of the dog. The chili was more plentiful but not very interesting. The best part was the bun, but I did manage to choke the whole thing down.
The polish dog was basically inedible. Too thick, very dry, just a sad bloated thing. Should've chosen the spicy version, perhaps there would've been some flavor. Again only a slight amount of mustard, relish and onions and way too many chopped tomatoes (I asked them to hold the lettuce - lettuce??).
Favorite item: my bottled grape crush. Hard to mess that one up.
Dear Carney's: PLEASE FORGIVE ME!! I have sinned and paid the price. Please lord, never again.
