Hi all -
I'm thinking about doing my birthday dinner at Spice Market. There will be 8 of us, all in our late 20's, with a range of eating habits. (Most of us are adventurous but there's one who doesn't do seafood, anything raw, or strange meats. She does, however, like Thai food, curries, and most chicken dishes.)
Has anyone been to Spice Market? What type of food is there and is it good? I know the NYT gave it a stellar review but I trust you over Sam Sifton (who IS that?)
Can it accommodate a group of 8 without much problem? And most importantly, what type of cost am I looking at? I'd really like to keep things moderate, provided we don't over-drink... these are questions I'd be able to figure out if JG and GK weren't being so secretive with their menu (heLLO menupages!)...
If SM is too expensive or too "strange" for my picky friend, any other rec's for good bday dinner place, preferably downtown? I was also thinking Cafe Asean but I've been there before and wanted to try something new... considered Schiller's as well (because its pricing is exactly what I'm looking for) but I don't think they take resos and waiting around is not my idea of a good time...
