B-day weekend visit--looking for restaurant and bar recs :D

Hi hounds! I'm coming to DC later this month for a long weekend. It's my fiance's b-day and we'll be looking to relax, have some great food and drinks, etc. I've been researching restaurants for a few days but am feeling kind of overwhelmed and so far nothing has stood out to me as a must :-/

I'm looking for a few different places--one for the b-day outing, a cozy/intimate/romantic place with a somewhat cool vibe...dinner and drinks around $100-$150. We're staying in Dupont Circle but anywhere in the NW area is fine. I'm thinking I'd like French, Italian, Mediterranean, or American--could be small plates or a wine bar--open to all recommendations if the food and atmosphere are great. Fiance is a vegetarian but there's no need for it to be a strictly vegetarian spot.

And any recommendations for great beer bar around dupont circle? I saw The Brickskeller has an extensive list and is nearby but have read mixed reviews about the place. Also a good place for martinis--nothing overly trendy or $$$. :)

Thanks very much--I really appreciate your input. Anything else you want to add would be great! We don't visit DC very often and just want to have a fun time and enjoy some awesome food.
