Dante's on Wilshire

3 of us had dinner at Dante's restaurant in the 1900 block of Wilshire in West LA. We arrived at 6:30 and the place was packed. We ordered the Dante Salad and the Spinach Salad. Both were tasty but the Spinach Salad was WAY overdressed. Carbonara was enjoyed, Ravioli with Mushroom Sauce also had no complaints and my Sweetbreads were dipped in an egg wash and sauteed perfectly and quite a large serving for about $19.00. We ordered Zabaglione (for 2) and Chocolate Mousse Pie. Our friend is in love with Zabaglione and so I offered to share it with her. I guess I really am not a fan but from my knowledge of the recipe, it was perfectly prepared. Mousse Cake is from somewhere like LA Desserts and was quite good. Wines by the glass were excellent choices. The Chianti and the Cabernet were both excellent and also quite similar in taste and balance. It is the old world atmosphere with dark stained wood and wall paper. It is perfect to carry on a conversation and if you stay past 8:00 you will almost have the place to yourself. They have a self parking lot which also knocks about $5.00 off the tab. Servers are professional, willing to accomodate special requests and are very friendly. I guess that is why they have been there for many decades.
