My dining experience at Burgerfi reminded me of a scene in Eddie Murphy's Coming To America where John Amos' character, Mr Mcdowell is trying to explain his jumpiness at hearing that there were "people here to see him." Mr Mcdowell: " Look... me and the McDonald's people got this little misunderstanding. See, they're McDonald's... I'm McDowell's. They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arcs. They got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but their buns have sesame seeds. My buns have no seeds." Oh my... where do I begin? Should I start with the total ripoff of Danny Meyer's Shack Shack which is not the worst offense, I mean imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and burgers were not invented by Mr. Meyer but when the staff coyly denies knowing what Shack Shack is, that's kind of lame and weak. It's best to give props where props are due, graciousness is a becoming trait. So aside from lifting the total menu concept, layout, font, line for just cold stuff... with added on mediocre cupcakes and ultra greasy onion rings the burgers were decent. Nowhere near as flavorful as Shack Shake but I guess ok for those who don't know any better.
