Danielas Cantina - Framingham

Operating at the old Aegean Restaurant location on Beacon Street in Framingham, this was a great choice for a recent weekday lunch. The menu has the standard fare of tacos, enchiladas, burritos etc., but the difference is the way the food is prepared and how fresh the ingredients are ! I have always been a fan of tex-mex but my search for high quality, freshly made dishes has always been frustrating - either the place serves gigantic portions of so-so food, or the chef doesn't know how to blend the spices properly and the product comes out fiery hot or way too bland to be enjoyed. This small family run restaurant makes a point of making everything to order (including the hot tortilla chips and fresh garlicky salsa). The chile rellenos were puffy, crisp stuffed chili peppers in a spiced red sauce with sides of chunky refried beans and a really moist and flavorful mexican rice. The enchiladas are made with freshly prepared tortillas (not the storebought ones)and again, the difference in the care of preparation comes through. The place is small, though it has a full bar area where you can order food as well. The prices are extremely reasonable and really are a bargain considering the quality of the product they serve.
I can't wait to try it for dinner - I don't think I will be dissapointed.
