I read Daniel Patterson's article in the NY Times today ("To the Moon, Alice?," asking whether "it's time to end Alice Waters's hegemony in San Francisco" -- see link below) and noticed that he mentioned that he is "about to open a new place" in San Francisco. What, what? What is this place? Any news, location, anticipation?
I was a big fan of Elisabeth Daniel and have very much missed it since its closing. Frisson never seemed a worthy venue. I'd really be excited to see Chef Patterson take on (again) the challenge he lays out in his article, and hopefully in a restaurant that lives up to his food.
I really enjoyed the NY Times piece, too. It's so hard to reconcile what I know and admire about Alice Waters with the experience of Chez Panisse today.
