I can't believe I waited so long to try this place. IMHO it stands head and shoulders above Sugo, to which it has often been compared.
We went on a Saturday night with friends and got great input from the servers on what were their favorites items....
Chose several antipasti. you can pick one($4), 3 ($11)or 5 ($18)..mozzarella fritti, chicken liver crostini, white anchovies and soppresatta as well as a cheese plate(same price spread as antipasti)...loved the humoldt fog and taleggio...
All plates at our table were virtually licked clean...ahi tuna, linguini with clams...but my favorite was the fazzoletti with rabbit and cerignola olives...wow!!! the salty olives and woodsy rabbit with the velvety smoothness of the pasta made a perfectly balanced dish.
Nice wine list with plenty of options by the glass as well as some interesting cocktails. Great bread. Loved the look of the dining room, very sleek and elegant as it leads you from the doors on Wall St down the polished wooden ramp and the dining room opens up into this elegant and yet understated space...I felt like I was in New York instead of Asheville. Thankfully the prices weren't as elegant. For the 2 of us with 1 cocktail, 1 glass of wine, 2 beers, appetizers (LOTS of little plates) and one entree it was $90 (including tip and tax). Great service...one of the best meals I've had downtown in a while.
