Cuban Sandwich in Far East Dallas

Las Americas check cashing/bodega/etcetera on Peavy Road just west of Garland Road has these incredible Cuban sandwiches. Roast pork, ham, Gouda cheese, pickles, olive dressing and blazin hot sauce on a crusty housemade roll, warmed in a big weird sandwich press that looks like a waffle iron on steroids, or maybe like a George Foreman thingy grown to adult size. They also have some nice weird little pastries and all kinds of Cuban-style groceries. And a bakery too but I'm not sure what's going on there.

Hours vary but they're usually open for lunch and dinner. I can't remember if they're open Sundays. This is ideal fare for a picnic at the lake. If they let you down there's a Schlotzky's in Casa Linda.

Oh they don't have potato chips so if plantain chips aren't your style take care of that before you get there.
