Anybody out there have any idea when the Irish Bar/burger joint is going to open? There are any number of rumours ranging from an illness in the proprietor's immediate family to problems obtaining a liquor license due to proximity to the elementary school...
And what's the story with the bagel shop? Do they use the same contractor as the Irish bar??
With the exception of Cinco de Mayo, which I am quite fond of and which seems to have pulled off a snappy gut renovation in the span of about 72 hours, the hopelessly-incompetent-except-with-a-pun, Rug-B remains the only game in town. Actually, their food is passable, but the service is laughable and the menus they hand out are mere props, since they typically don't seem to have most of the dishes listed. I was forced to take my hungry parents there since C de M was being renovated and after reciting the specials, the waitress proceeded to try and talk my pop out of ordering the seafood special.
Bizarre; not ready for prime time, mon.
It seems trips to Park Slope and Manhattan are in the cards for Flatbush area Chowhounds for the foreseeable future....
