saw DJK's rec and checked out Assenzio (E 4th) in the EV a couple weeks ago, it was so good we went again Sunday night. some highlights - lovely fennel and orange salad, their gnocchi is great - homemade, perfect soft texture, and rich white truffle sauce is heavenly. the suckling pig and chicken rollatini entrees are also excellent, very nicely prepared, tender and great flavor.
and we LOVE this "bread" they serve. don't know what it's called - they bring over a nice big basket of bread, olive & rustic breads, and a flavored olive oil, and on top is this huge pile of "bread chips" - super crispy, thin and lightly salty (with hint of rosemary) that are so yummy and totally addictive! (ya know when the bread has a bubble in the dough and you pull a nice crispy chip off the top... well imagine an endless pile of these) - does anyone know if there's a name for this?
Assenzio goes on our top list for EV Italian dining (with Perbacco, Le Zoccole, Apizz, Super)
