this joint is pretty swell for updated coffee shop food with the bruce marder touch.
nice huevos rancheros (not authentic, though still good) with cannellini beans cooked in olive oil instead of refried beans. a simple non-cloying tomato sauce to round out the dish.
Some great cheeseburgers (kobe style) too.
among other dishes. like duck or pumpkim ravioli.
all of it's pretty reasonable though not a bargain/inexpensive.
oh, and some great rustic pies like peach pie with fresh whipped cream. and caramel and peppermint ice creams.
I think it's the best coffee shop almost in LA, and it never seems to get any mention on chowhound.
