Went to Insomnia Cookies in Harvard Square last night. (Walked in the store, didn't order delivery.) Was pleasantly surprised by the warming drawer under the front counter, so that we get fresh cookies! Good cookies -- the regular sized ones are on the thin side, soft, and a bit crunchy in the right places. Didn't try the bigger ones yet. But so far it ranks, in my book, up with the Boston Chipyard for cookies in Boston.
Insomnia Cookies reminded me how disappointed I was by the Cookie Monstah truck. Not because they don't have good cookies (I do like them -- thick, still chewy), but because on the Cookie Monstah's website they talked about bringing freshly baked cookies to the masses, but when I went the cookies had been made at their home base and merely transported downtown, so they weren't anywhere near warm.
While I'm on the subject, I was also disappointed that the cookies at the Frozen Hoagie truck were so hard the time that I went. Not chewy at all. Maybe they'd sat in their box on the truck too long. Especially a problem when used in a fat ice cream sandwich -- the ice cream all fell out of the sandwich with the first bite.
