Went on a dining adventure tonight.
Started out by finding Twin Seafoods in Concord per recomendations on this board.
Got there at 7:40 and was excited to find it. Lights on, Open sign out, Door propped open, Large specials board out on the sidewalk. Went in and were told that they close at 7:30 even though the sign read 8. Further investigation saw a note on the takeout menu that said last oreder at 7:30. Was very dissapointed but will try it earlier next time.
Then headed over to Shiro in Berlin.
I forget the name of what I ordered but it was basically a thinly sliced beef teriyaki type dish $16(although not the one actually called that on the menu). My DC got the Chicken sukiyaki $14.
Both dinners came with a decent bowl of miso soup (although could have been hotter), a marinated bean sprout salad, a bowl of rice and a bowl of icecream for dessert (green tea, choc or Ginger).
Both dishes were very tasty. The quality of the beef and chicken was average but the sauces and seasonings were very good and the portions nicely sized. The Sukiyaki came with large blocks of tofu, cabbage, onion, noodles, chicken. Mine was served with a large pile of a ramen type noodle and a few spears of aspargus. Both nicely plated.
We also got the Tempura appetizer $8. came with 3 large shrimp, and one each: zuccini, brocoli, green bean , carrot, sweet potato, taro root. Very nice but the dipping sauce was a bit weak and we didnt get any plates till after we were finished with it.
Food came out in a timely matter but general service was slow (ie. the plate thing, getting the bill, etc) The place in the downstairs of the owners house. Neat room. Unfourtatly they stuck us in a small side room with a birthday party of 10 obnoxiously loud middle aged women. At several point we considored picking up our plates and moving, but decided against it. The platters of sushi they were getting did look nice though.
