So Romanza in Providence was really, really nice. Feels like a B&B, with fireplace, flowered wallpaper, and a personable chef with quite a history who chatted up the diners. Surprisingly not crowded for a Friday night.
We had a beautifully prepared microgreen salad (easy to ruin but delicate and tasty) with smoked gouda added by special request, and "blistered asparagus" which was deeelicious....the only drawback was that we ordered only one entree, one of the nightly specials (which is usually more than enough for two, if you're eating bread, apps, wine, and dessert) and I think the staff charged a fortune for it in retaliation. $34.50 for a steak? Seems like a lot. Certainly more than all the other entrees.
Anyway I recommend Romanza, even through the summer--they have a little backyard with tables for al fresco dining soon!
So, RI coast. There used to be a great restaurant connected to one of the wineries on the RI coast...anyone have any thoughts about dining around Westport Vineyards or Sakonnet?
