Coastal Flats - Fairfax Corner

Took my family to lunch at Coastal Flats in Fairfax corner after reading a favorable review in the Centreville Times weekend section. Basic impression - nice interior, very open with booths. Menu is basic, two pages plus daily special. Wife had grilled tuna salad - she asked the tuna to be medium rare, I had the grouper fingers. Food is good, not great. Wife complained that the tuna was still cold inside - guess they just took the steak right out of the freezer. The grouper fingers were lightly battered with beer batter, overall very good. The major downside was the service - pretty poor. The waiter kept disappearing. I never received the extra bread and iced tea I requested. When I requested vinegar for the fish, the server looked like she had never heard of anyone desiring vinegar for their fried fish, and promptly disappeared, and I never got the vinegar. Since this place just opened, I hope they work out their service staff situation, as right now I'd rate it barely acceptable. This place is typical in that most of the serving staff are teens or early 20 types who appear more interested in socializing than serving their customers. My waiter even removed plates and silverware from my table WHILE we were still eating! I'll wait awhile before I give this place another try, although the food was okay.
