Chowdown for Chowhound - Part III

Thanks so far, for the drum beating...

Let's get this thing planned and done with already!!

Enough people have expressed interest, that there is no doubt that something will be done, the question is what?

In the time we have thought of this idea, the SF group has planned, established, and by tonight, finished a blow-out extravaganza featuring a multi-course chinese banquet, vast wine tasting, and performance by notable chow-singer. Awe inspiring details can be seen by following link below.

A January date has been thrown out, which I think is a good idea. Enough time to rebound from holidays, about time to do something again. It also gives us enough time to organize the fundraising aspect of the dinner.

There still has not been much thrown out in the way of ideas. I would like, once again, to suggest the following alternatives:

- Chinatown (I'd go out on a limb here and suggest Happy Chef for the great family style dinner deals. I'd be more than happy to arrange a pre-set menu)

- Garden Buffet Korean - Very simple, show up, eat

- Partheon - Whole pig dinner, I can arrange

- El Llano - Picada - weekend's only, but I think that's a given anyway

As Paulette suggested, we pay one price for the dinner and then we add a minimum contribution to chowhound. While no one has access to the kind of wines that Melanie Wong can offer the SF group, I sure things can be arranged to keep our group purring.

As I have said before, another chowhounder with specific fundraising experience (who has not posted in a while) has said she can help arrange additional things. Let us not lose out on this offer.

So, feedback please. Otherwise, I'll just do arrange something or we'll end up doing nothing.

Rob
