Chow-y Gelato experience -- Midtown

A ray of hazelnut-flavored sunshine on a bleak midtown workday!

I scarfed down a quick lunch at my desk, but things freed up around 2.30; so I took a stroll and stumbled upon a new lunch place on 45th and 3rd advertising gelato....

The selection looked good, I got a taste of the hazelnut. Add that to the friendly, hip Euros working the counter who engaged me in conversation (in French) -- I was won over.

The gelato was just as it should be ("c'est le vrai gelato," as they said)... rich and creamy but soft and light at the same time. The flavor was intense, fresh, and clean. Was a bit pricey at $3, but the piled the little cup high.

Everyone in this notoriously un-chowwy neighborhood -- andate mangiare il buon gelato !
