A Chow Epiphany

It's the end of the world as we know it. I went to the local 7-11 to get a small coffee this morning and they had raised the price from $.99 to $1.09. Listen, you can mess with the balance of payments, the deficit, the tax rates, the capital gains tax, the interest rates, etc., etc., but you CANNOT raise the price of coffee at 7-11! Well, they did. Fortunately, I recalled a promising sighting in the neighborhood that I had meant to follow up on. There at the corner of Santa Monica and Normandie is a vendor (in the mornings anyway) selling tamales (chicken or cheese)and champurrado for $1.00 each. Pretty good tamale (had the chicken, nice and hot) and the chocolatiest, cinnamoniest champurrado I've ever experienced. There's also a vendor with a smaller operation on one of the other corners (don't know if they're competitors or if it's a "chain.")It's the end of the world as we know it. And I feel fine. (Now, if they would just lower the price of that 7-11 coffee...)
