My parents will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, and I am in charge of making dinner reservations for them and the rest of my family (6 of us in total).
Their first choice was Babbo, the family favorite, but since the date is less than 4 weeks away, I could not get a reservation. I am considering these other options, none of which I or my parents have tried before: Fiamma, Blue Hill, Daniel (we went to the old one on 76th St, where cafe boulud is now and we loved it), Town and Il Mulino.
Generally, my parents like good food that is not super-experimental (no Wylie restaurants for them), excellent service, clean decor over fluffy, nothing too stuffy. They love Grammercy, are not impressed by the food at Union Square Cafe and thought the old Bouley Bakery was too snobby. They also tend to like italian food, but would definitely prefer better-prepared food over a particular cuisine.
What should I choose?
