Chocolate in Oakland, suddenly a deluge

Today I discovered that a little candy store on College Avenue has had a change in ownership and focus. The store is in the little row of stores where Grasshopper Restaurant and Ver Brugge Butcher shop sit.

It has now re-opened as Lulu Rae Confections, and carries XOX truffles in many flavors, including some vegan choices. It also has a number of other types/brands of truffles and chocolates, though I didn't get any of those. I purchased three XOX's, one caramel and dark chocolate, one Earl Grey, and one dark chocolate. I ate the Caramel/dark chocolate on the way home. I may never eat the others so that I can fully savor the extreme, eye rolling delight I experienced from the caramel one.

Also, the cafe called Bittersweet, located on College in Rockridge, is now open. Has anyone tried it yet?

One last, non-chocolate related item: A branch of Khana Peena appears to be in the process of being opened on College as well, in what used to be a liquor store.
