Ate what may be the finest chinese meal (certainly sichuan) I've ever had at China Village on Solano last night.
Started with home chicken, which looked questionable, but tasted like the most remarkable chicken salad I've ever tasted. Dry-fried beef was perfectly cooked, not greasy at all--a crispy, salty, and delicious revelation. Seasonal greens sauteed with garlic were bright in appearance and flavor--just lovely. Village lamb was tender and spiked with cumin.
We have nothing like this in NY, and it makes me sad.
