Someone recommended Cheng Du for delivery - and not to sound ungrateful for the recommendation, but it was THE WORST CHINESE FOOD I have ever had in LA! I want to be kind and think that a fellow Chowhounder had a better experience WHILE eating at the restaurant, and the problem is that the food doesn't deliver well....but I think the quality shouldn't have been THIS terrible.
When the food arrived at our house, there was a giant puddle of grease sitting on top of both the eggplant and the string beans we ordered. The shrimp and garlic sauce was gloppy with overly salted sauce and the shrimp were mushy and fell apart as if it were old. We also ordered the mongolian beef, which was so stringy AND mushy at the same time (sitting in baking soda too long, which some chinese restaurants use to soften tough beef). We also ordered their version of jia jiang mien and it was in a sauce that was almost as sweet as maple syrup!
THe quality was low grade and the preparation was just horrible....after a few bites, my husband and I threw out ALL The food. 38 bucks into the garbage. I would advise everyone to avoid this terrible restaurant!
