New Chef at 1492?

Went to 1492 (on Clinton Street) during the week between Christmas and New Year's, and the ordinarily excellent tapas were mediocre at best. The codfish fritters, which are usually lighter than air, were strangely gluey in the middle, and the shrimp in garlic and olive oil tasted, well, old. I wanted to ask if they'd gotten a new chef, or if the usual chef was on vacation, but I felt it'd be rude. Anyone know the deal?
