Recently we conducted a head-to-head tasting of several NYC cheesecakes. The version from La Flor Cafe and Bakery (53-02 Roosevelt, Sunnyside Queens) was heads and tails the best.....
Creamy, lemony, nice lingering taste, awesome with coffee but can nibble on it alone. A benchmark cheesecake.
Looking forward to trying dinner entrees here. Expectations are running high that this may turn out to be a "great discovery" of an NYC restaurant jewel.
On other hand, the Flan was very nice but not as exceptional as we remember the Flan at Malagueta (astoria) to be...we'll have to taste head-to-head.
The Key Lime pie was an interesting taste I've not encountered living 10 years in florida....a very sharp interesting tartness. However the "airy mousiness" of the pie detracts......
Keep an eye on this restaurant and DON'T MISS the cheesecake....we'll be sampling it "head-to-head" with Andres shortly.....
