where to get cheese in jackson heights?? (and good bread)

i just moved to jackson heights and am loving the restaurants - delicious indian, thai, mexican, etc. VERY happy in general with all cheap and excellent things to eat. but only one complaint - i am an enormous lover of cheese, especially french cheeses - raw milk cheeses, goat cheese, etc. i can't find any sort of interesting cheese selection in any of the supermarkets and groceries around. and i'm really missing it - do i have to go manhattan to get nice cheese? around here i find loads of feta cheese, and in the supermarkets (trade fair, met foods) i find brie, gruyere, cheddar, parmesan. not an inspired selection. of course the indian and chinese markets, great as they are, have no interest in cheese either. so what's a cheese-loving girl to do?

and a related grocery question. anywhere around to get a nice crusty loaf of bread bread? the south american bakeries don't do a great job i've found. carollo bakery on 37th ave isn't bad, but not great either. any good french or european bakery at walking distance from JH? thanks so much for advice!
