I am leading a tour of 24 students plus 3 chaperones from Vancouver on the weekend of Nov. 7-10. Dinners are all arranged for (not by me): Planet Hollywood, Gonzalez Y Gonzalez and John's (44th street).
Anyway, lunches are not planned and I need to keep in mind some good, quick options that are good for groups. See below for areas where we will be. Any advice would be appreciated, with special consideration for ease with large groups (i.e. if it's a pizza place, it should be big enough for 28 people). Street vendors work as well. Anything "quintessential NY" would be a bonus, especially considering that we are eating non-descript dinners.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!!!!
FRIDAY: We will leave the hotel (Holiday Inn SoHo -- LaFayette just off Canal) around 11 am and hit the Flatiron Bldg, Empire State, Macy's and NY Public Library before ending up in Times Sq for dinner (Planet Hollywood). So I could use a place in Flatiron and north, or even in Chelsea if convenient. Chinatown could be an option here. I know NOTHING about chinatown so if you have suggestions here please be specific.
SATURDAY: This is the one that worries me the most. Spending the day downtown -- ground zero, wall street and south street seaport before heading out to Statue of Liberty. Late dinner (8 pm) at Gonzalez y Gonzalez. I am thinking we will probably end up eating at South Street but any thoughts here would be welcome.
SUNDAY: Mass at St. Patricks mid-morning followed by Rockerfeller Center then up to the Met. then a 6:15 dinner at John's before a nightime cruise. So, I could use options in the Rock Center area or near the Met before we enter the museum.
MONDAY: We are doing the UN and Grand Central and I am planning on having us have lunch downstairs at Grand Central with all those New York-type places.
