Charleston eats

We just returned from a week at the beach (Isle of Palms) and visiting our baby boy and his bride. Lots of good eating, but our big discovery was the Mt. Pleasant Farmer's Market at Moultrie Middle School. It's only open on Tuesdays from 4:00 until dark, April thru Oct. Fortunately, we happened by on Tuesday and stopped. All sorts of fresh produce, jams, pickles, seafood, baked goods, a blues guitarist, freshly squeezed lemonade. We ate in some evenings, and so we bought enough for 2 dinners. Great corn, tomatoes, etc. We got fresh shrimp at Mt. Pleasant Seafood on Shem Creek. Very fresh and excellently priced. They had a good looking assortment of other seafood also. We tried Gullah Cuisine on 17...excellent simple food, and probably the best collard greens I've ever had. We had ballpark eats at the Riverdogs game. Typical stadium food, but wonderful prices, since I come from the land of the $4 ballpark hot dog. A great family evening...fun and very affordable.
