Nothing haute cuisine or pricey (under 20/plate), but we want to steer away from the chains, too. TC and I liked The Clam Shell in Littleton, which is now, sadly, a chain drugstore as part of a rapidly urbanizing stretch of 302. We've done Littleton Diner/Topic of the Town for breakfast and have had good (very good) and bad (quite bad) experiences in both. Italian Oasis, if still there, was just myeh two years ago.
We are not picky eaters....we loved the Clam Shells salad bar, but doubt we'll find one in the area. Steaks/seafood or any ethnic cuisine is fine, as is typical New Englandy stuff. We'll be there for a long weekend.
