Always heard about the food there, so decided to venture out. From all the warning I saw, we decide to go early, around 6pm. On a Saturday night, it wasn't very busy didn't have to wait at all. Although by the time we left at 8ish, there was a small crowd by the door.
Didn't get too much tips from this board about cha cha cha, so took the adivce of the Chronicle's food critic. We ordered the fried new potatos, fried plantanos, fried calamari, and jerk chicken. The potatos was fried nicely, but the aioli that came with it was so bland, it really dulled the dish. And this was the dish so raved in the Chronicle's review. The chicken was not spicy at all, and the calamari also came with some very lack luster aioli (though a differnt one). BUT, the fried platains were great! They was carmalized and semi crunchy and chewy on the outside and hot, sweety and gooey on the inside. They were served with some black bean puree which was also pretty good. We ordered one dessert to share, which was the caremal chocolate mousse with banana cake and strawberry sauce. It was an okay dessert, none of the suppose ingridents in the title of the dessert really stood out.
We took a cab and travel all the way out there to give Cha Cha Cha a try. Glad we finally gave it a try but we'll not go again probably.
