I finally got to the new restaurant in the space that was Hartsdale Garden; we had dim sum today. I was VERY pleased.
The congee with pork and egg was delicious. Clams in black bean sauce was good and a plate of roast duck was well flavored with 5-spice and salt. Assorted dim sum standards were all good: soup dumplings, shumai, shrimp dumplings, etc. The real hit was a plate of crispy fried shrimp, lightly breaded, a bit spicy, served whole with the heads and entirely edible. We were crunching away when a wait came by to chat and said "Americans don't usually like shrimp with the heads". True, but now they'll start to recognize us. We finished off with egg custard and coconut cake (my favorite).
Dim sum prices are good: $2.50 for small dishes, $3.50 for medium, and I guess $4.50 for large ones, though we didn't have any. The shrimp, duck, and clams were around $8 or $9.
