Went there with my partner last night and sat at the bar. The staff was very friendly and accomodating (let us know when seats were open). We had the mussels from brussels which were out of this world...a light garlic, onion and lemon broth served with fries topped with cheese. The bartender offered some bread (iggy's???) to dip into the broth. Paired with fantastic viognier from California (perfectly described by the bartender). Great mid-evening snack. Actually, they are the best mussels I have yet to have in Boston.

We left there and had a great burger at the River Gods...again more crisp fries! Nice thick piece of what I assume was sirloin, topped with carmalized onions. The bar was packed, we were lucky to get a table.

Again, the staff at both places was very friendly...a nice diversion from the pretense that is becoming more common in my South End neighborhood.

All in all an enjoyable evening that is forcing me to go to the gym today.
