Just a follow up to my original post--
We've been back a few times since our first visit, back in November, and even though the food is not oh-my-god good, we've been very happy with the overall quality and service. Their bbq chicken is nicely done, cooked evenly all the way through, with nicely charred skin and not dripping in sauce, the DH likes the St Louis and the baby back ribs very much, the hushpuppies are addictive, and the service is attentive and low key. (The coconut cake is also quite tasty.) And they never push you out the door. For some reason, I really want this place to do well, and it doesn't seem like it's been getting a ton of business the several times we've been back. It's consistently good, though, and though they still are working out some supply glitches (their tri tip steak is great but not always available), it's always been enjoyable.
They've just added a Sunday gospel brunch, which seems to be standard eggs benedict type stuff, although they list grits and white gravy with sausages. Haven't been yet, though.
