we had one of those half off dining things from radio station and since cascades just got such a good review from sac magazine thougtht we'd give it a try. had difficulty getting a reservation on saturday so thought that was a good sign it was busy and doing well

the food was marginal and the service was horrendous- my husband and i both waited tables in college and we're normally very understanding but first time i almost ever called over manager but of course i never saw anyone who looked nor acted like a manager

our waiter forgot about us repeatedly, had to keep coming back and asked what drinks we ordered (my husband ordered a nonalcohoic beer and since he had to keep asking and didn't know what it was we were concered he would get a real beer) , stacked our dirty dishes on our table and then left them for a minute, gave us our bill before we got dessert and coffee which he then had to come back twice because he couldn't remember what we ordered, spent most of his time talking to young ladies at the bar etc etc etc

the food was marginal- i had manchego soup first which could have been good but was ice cold and of course i never could get the waiter, my husband had greens which he said was ok. i had roasted halibut which was so tough you couldn't even cut it with a knife and my husband had the diver scallops which seemed like regular plain small scallops with no flavor and his portion was so small he had to attempt to eat some of the halibut also

we were very very disappointed- i had read some bad reviews on here about cascades and now i know they were correct
