Carmine Street: Marinella, Magic Carpet, Cent Anni

I headed over to Carmine Street last Friday for some dinner. The intent was to drop by Cent Anni, the Italian restaurant I have always heard good things about but never visited. To my shock, it was closed, seemingly permanently.

So I decided to fall back on my reliable fallback in that neighborhood: Magic Carpet. To my shock, it was closed and not a trace of it remained. They made some damn good mideast food, inexpensively. I hope I can find a replacement place.

That's two long-term, established places closed on one street!

Ended up dropping in at Marinellas for the first time. It was superb. Nice atmosphere, friendly service and lots of Italian specials. I had the eggplant rollatine and a pork chop in gorgonzola sauce covered in carmelized onions. I will definitely be dropping by there again.
