Had lunch at Carambola in Dresher on Tuesday.
If one skips appetisers, it is a steal for lunch with most of the pastas and salads at $7.95. Appetisers are the same price at lunch and dinner.
The grilled portabello salad was huge and wonderful, as was the sweet potato ravioli with andouille, though my friend and I agreed that andouille seems to overpower everything with which it is combined, here and everywhere.
We split an order of their signature Shrimp Carambola which is their version of coconut shrimp, done with shredded filo instead of coconut.
I had never ordered it before and had heard differing opinions from 5 stars to ordinary. I thought it was very good, but not 5 stars.
If you live or work in the area, this would be a good time to go for lunch; since they have only been serving lunch for about 2 weeks, word isn't out yet and it isn't crowded.
Once word is out, it will be as difficult to get a table as at Zakes, our favorite lunch spot, and Carambola's only serious competition in the area.
