Capitola - Paradise Beach Grill

Not sure if Capitola which is just south of Santa Cruz should be on the California or SF board. However using a search, it appeared more on the SF board.

Anyway, being the tourist I wanted a restaurant on the beach with a view. I think we lucked out with the Paradise Beach Grill.

Probably the prettiest outdoor patio in the area. Il Pirata's patio was right on the beach, but there were bulldozers wrecking the calm and ambiance.
Margaritaville was a pretty restaurant with a very pleasant staff, but the restaurant was overlooking a dirty, foamy, scummy stretch of water and I wasn't craving Mexican.

Paradise is aptly named. The food was very good. I had a grilled steak salad on a bed of greens with grilled peppers, onions and topped with gorgonzola. Very tasty. My friend had a nice vegetarian pasta topped with a spinach stuffed portabella mushroom with cheese and tomatoes. Basil was sprinkled over the plate. She proclaimed it excellent. Due to the recent mushroom discussion on the general board, I passed on giving it a taste.

Good bread with herbed balsamic vinegar and oil was served. Service was very friendly. Nice list of local wines.

Looking over at other diners plates, everthing looked delicious. The Ceasar salad with prawns was topped with plump grilled prawns. There was an excellent looking appetizer which was a round of bread with cheese, herbs and olive oil baked inside.

I'd recommend this place and probably go back.
