My girlfriend and I are spending Sunday and Monday in Cape May, NJ this weekend. In surveying the restaurants, I noticed several things:
1. Many BYOB (yay!)
2. Many are not open off-season or at least, right now(Black Duck, for instance)
3. Many of the ones recommended on this board in the past are fairly expensive (entrees in the high 20s, low 30s...places such as Peter Shields Inn).
We're coming from Manhattan, so what we are not looking for is NYC-style cuisine at NYC prices that is served in NJ--not that many places in Cape May don't come highly recommended. Rather, we simply want something that is NOT as easy to get in Manhattan.
But we wouldn't mind keeping the BYOB aspect, for sure.
I was thinking what might be better is more of a traditional seafood place, with entrees ideally coming in under $20 for most things. I know Lobster Inn is popular, but it seems to be both closed and probably a little touristy. However, something like that would probably be what we wanted.
