Hi All, just want to post news about a place I learned about through this board. Cantina de Linha (sp?) which was on 30th St just north of Broadway in Astoria has changed ownership and name and is now Cantina Brazil. (Address: 31-90 30th Street, Astoria.)
When I walked in I was suspicious, since the new ownership is a group of young women who weren't exactly dressed for the kitchen, and some of their friends were hanging out chatting with them. Just didn't go with my image of fine home cooking in quite the way that Linha and her husband did. But I live nearby and this had been a favorite place to grab a bite, so I felt I had to give it a try.
The flounder with shrimp sauce that I had was amazing, as good as anything under the old ownership. My only complaint is that the beans were a bit mushier. I also had a banana upside down cake for desert which was just as good as it had been in the past. So my guess is that this is still a good place, though I would be happy to hear other opinions.
As an added benefit, they are now open Monday to Saturday 11 to 8 and offer free delivery.
