Hi, My girlfriend and I will be spending Canada Day Weekend in Montreal for the Jazz festival. We have reservations for dinner at Cafe Ferreira, Brunoise Cafe and Au Pied du Cuchon - all 3 largely based on some of the posts here. Based on Chowhound, I went to Toque! 2 years ago for their tasting menu. The food was a bit on the meager - portion wise - though we did not leave feeling hungry and many of the courses were delicious. However, I didn't think it was great value at $125 per and we could only be 'squeezed' in for the 5pm sitting )although the place was largely empty through the whole meal) and the service was efficient but cold. Overall, I thought the atmosphere was lame.
So wondering if there is a bit more life at my choices this year and whether anyone can give any insight to whether my choices offer good value?
As Frame of Reference, in Toronto, I like the atmosphere/food at 5 Doors North and Gypsy Co-Op, love the food at Canoe, Bymark and Luce (less atmospheric) but think they all are good value.
Thanks for any insight!
