Cajun Cafe

Approriately on a bayou in Pinellas Park, Cajun Cafe has always delivered for my friends and I. I was reminded of this fact when a large group of us went there on a recent saturday night.

The crawfish cornbread is a luxurious delight, moist and savory. On this occassion, however, both orders arrived lukewarm in places, like it should have stayed in the mic (or oven) longer. The gator bites were good, too, with a great tomato-based dipping sauce.

My smoked pork roast was great, with a heavy smoke flavor and stuffed with andouille sausage. My companions had crawfish boudin (very fishy), BBQ shrimp (ahh-- yummy), shrimp etoufee (mild and comforting) and some sort of gator chunks in sauce (nice). Service was better than ever-- it usually was pretty lousy but the food made it worth it. Bottled Blackened Voodoo took me back to Mardi Gras.....
