We went to Caffe Casta Diva for JugglerDave's birthday last night. It's a small Italian BYOB, cash-only, at 20th and Walnut.
They brought great crusty, salted focaccia bread.
I started with a spicy gazpacho made light and zingy with lemon. JugglerDave had the melanzane, eggplant and goat cheese wrapped around asparagus. The goat cheese was high quality, warm and creamy, and the vegetables were perfectly cooked to 'just done.'
I had the penne with tomato, anchovy, olive, red pepper, capers and olive oil. It was so fresh with strong flavors. JugglerDave had the special penne with homemade sausage and broccoli rabe in a tomato sauce. He said classic presentation of good ingredients.
Bill came to around $60 with tax and tip.
