Cafe Pacific - Dallas

Just a quick report -- had lunch at Cafe Pacific today. As expected, it was excellent. Service was impeccable, food was first rate and the scene . . . the scene would be worth paying for a ticket!

We were seated on the upper level next to a window looking out to the valet parking stand. It was truly an "I'll see your Mercedes and raise you a Bentley" kind of day. Of course, then some guy comes along and trumps everybody with his Rolls. Great fun.

We started with the calamari with two sauces. Great as usual. My wife had the Cafe Pacific Chopped Salad, which was pretty good but not great. I had the grilled red snapper served on jasmine rice and topped with a roasted corn relish. Really great dish.

We shared the house made ice cream cake dessert. It has caramel sauce with cinnamon, a filo dough type crust that is loaded with honey. I'm not even a dessert eater most days, but this was outstanding.

It's hard to beat this place day after day -- totally consistent in our experience.
