I'm a bit pressed for time, so I'll let Cafe Luna Tierra Sol speak for itself:
"Luna Tierra Sol Cafe is one of the only places in Los Angeles where you can come express yourself, eat a vegetarian meal and be part of social change."
Restaurant is located between downtown and Koreatown, near Macarthur Park. We were stunned to find a place like this in L.A. -- Berkeley, sure, but L.A....wow. Extremely gracious, pleasant chef and host; semi-self serve (order food at window, have delivered to table). This is vegetarian mexican food...but NOT "healthy" mexican food. In other words, in contrast to the sometimes quite enjoyable La Salsa / Baja Fresh experience, they've somehow managed to leave out the pork and leave in the full flavor.
We had chilaquiles and potato tacos. They forgot the eggs on the chilaquiles, but it didn't matter -- the chips and sauce were a decadent treat on their own. And again, I cannot emphasize enough how authentic the food is.
By the way, prices are insanely cheap. I don't think anything on the menu's over $6...We'll be back to try other super cool looking stuff like the Tofu Mole ($3.95)!
