Just wanted to give props to this cafe in Peterborough in SW New Hampshire...I've been there several times and the food is always fresh, well-prepared, reasonably priced.
Recently, after a hike up Mt. Monadnock and a fun glissade back down the trail to the state park parking lot, I stopped in for a late Saturday lunch.
Started with a creamy butternut squash bisque (surprisingly sweet, not nutmeg-y as I was expecting). Very thick and filling and very strong with squash flavor.
Then had a great pastrami sandwich on their fresh-baked multigrain bread, with cheese and some sort of onion spread...delish!
If you happen to be in the Monadnock region, it is not a bad place to stop by after a hike or ski.
It's on Rt. 202 just south of the intersection with Rt. 101...
