i work in Times Square, which means i'm forced to endure many a mediocre and over-priced lunch establishment.
there a few exceptions and Cafe Duke is definitely one of them. i used to go to the one in Soho all the time back when i worked in Soho and couldn't afford to eat at most places down there. the times square location just recently opened. i went to today and was delighted.
it's HUGE, and has a fresh pasta counter, salad counter, sandwich counter, udon/soba noodle counter, korean tofu stew counter (although it was slightly bland), a massive hot table and massive cold table, prepared sushi and sandwiches....and it's reasonably priced!
it's also a short walk to bryant park, which makes for a great lunch hour picnic.
