the name escapes me right now--it's something like Hill Diner or Hill Cafe.
i've been in twice for dinner. the mushroom ravioli was fine, if a bit strange, with a sauce of cream, ricotta and spinach done in the food processor so it had a slightly grainy texture. second time tried the tofu-and-vegetable entree: i'm glad i asked how the tofu was prepared, because it was deep-fried. the waitress offered to grill it instead; it was delicious, and came with a heap of grilled peppers, zucchini, and mushrooms, very smoky, with a bit of aioli over all. both dinners came with marshmallowy white bread, which i think is inexcusable in this neighborhood.
in general they seem to do a lot of fried and cream-based cooking, which my boyfriend will be pleased about. prices are good. the area needs a decent, reasonably priced cafe; this one seems friendly and accomodating, if the food isn't spectacular.
