Cafe Azul in Portland--sour?

I tried Cafe Azul for the first time and wasn't quite impressed.
Everything was a bit too sour and/or missing something. Their margarita was too sour and had no depth. The Caesar salad was refreshing, but became a bit boring after three bites. The three salsas were okay, but not as good as they looked. The steak was the best among what I ordered, but wasn't sensational. Chocolate torte was too spicy and passion fruit sorbet on the side was too sour. Overall, everything lacked complexity, I'm afraid. I liked the ambience, though.

I had looked forward to dinning at this restaurant since I read about it in Gourmet magazine, but sadly, I was disappointed. Did I expect too much? Did I order wrong dishes? Or has the chef been changed?
I wonder if I should give it another try.
