Cafe Atlantico latin dim sum

Had a fun and wonderful brunch at Cafe Atlantico on Saturday. This is the best restaurant meal I've had in a while. I see that there were posts on this in June. It is still excellent--all four of us really liked it. My favorite items were a squash dish and a malanga puree with malanga chips. My least favorite was a mushroom quesadilla--it just wasn't special like the other dishes. Also, a pineapple item, while intriguing - shaved pineapple, with plantain powder -- was so small I'm not sure it was worth it. Each of us got a tiny bite. My meat-eating friends had both meat and fish items and seemed very happy with those.

They have full-size desserts on the brunch menu. We shared a chocolate cake and something else in a tart shell. The chocolate mousse-like substance on the side of the cake was out of this world. The rest of both of the desserts didn't really hit the spot for me, though. They were more interesting than compellingly good.

This is a restaurant that I've always passed up before because the dinner and lunch menu are really more expensive than I would normally want to spend and they don't have many vegetarian selections. The brunch, which starts at 11:30 on both Saturday and Sunday (and they take reservations), although not cheap, is a much more affordable way to check it out and, oddly, they have many veggie items.
