Cafe 14 in Agoura Hills

Husband and I had a date night at Cafe 14 on Saturday night. Such a change from the usual restaurants we've been frequenting as parents of a toddler. Seeking something mild yet comforting, I ordered the penne pasta with sundried tomatoes, roasted chicken and asparagus with a lemon garlic cream sauce as it seemed to be the the least spicy item on the menu. Husband ordered the 8 oz filet mignon with shallot mashed potatoes, and baby green beans and carrots. Since we wanted to save room for dessert, we didn't order appetizers or salads although I was sorely tempted when the server mentioned the heirloom tomato salad. My husband's 8 oz filet seemed more like a 12 oz and my pasta was amazingly flavorful as well as filling. I was so glad I saved room for dessert! We split the apple berry crumble with vanilla bean ice cream--very generous portion and unbelievably delicious. The couple at the next table were raving about their flourless chocolate cake.

Cafe 14 is a wonderful addition to the area. Husband had beer with his meal but unfortunately no alcoholic libations for me as I am pregnant but they were offering wine tastings. Total bill came to about $80 for two including tax and tip.
